A Trans-Pacific heavy-lift for Ruslan International.
18-April-2009

On behalf of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ruslan International recently undertook a trans-Pacific flight with a 95 tonne power generation rotor from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Guangzhou, China. With the required loading equipment the total weight of cargo together with transport tooling was 105 tons. A mammoth seven refuelling stops were required for this 24500km flight taking the aircraft through Lima, Caracas, Orlando, Winnipeg, Anchorage, Petropavlovsk and Osaka with the cargo being delivered on time five days after departure from Buenos Aires. The operation was also short notice with considerable schedule planning required for a flight of this length together with the required technical assessment of the cargo necessary for secure loading in the aircraft’s cargo hold.
