Ruslan International has just completed one of the shortest commercial Antonov 124 flights ever operated. The flight involved the transport of a complete RAF Nimrod fuselage from RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire toBAE System’s facility at Woodford near Manchester. The flight which took exactly 30 minutes covered a distance of 108 kilometres. The15,000kgs fuselage was being moved for refurbishment by BAE Systems and air was found to be the only viable transport option given it’s sizeand the route involved had it been moved by road.
